We Make Future: Testing Livener in a Real-World Festival Environment

It was great to be at We Make Future in Bologna and to meet so many people and exciting projects in the Start-Up zone. We hope to continue many of the conversations we atarted there.

The show provided a very testing environment for our beta-testing. Connectivity was generally poor for all users with so many visitors all trying to use the same bandwidth on WiFi and 5G. Not a great place to test our live video streaming studio. With connectivity failing regularly the studios repeatedly crashed which was very frustrating and we learned that we do not fail gracefully. As a result we are putting in place measures to better show any issues the studio may be having and to enable easier re-starts when a failure does occur.

However we were able to stream and record some of the presentations we were covering on the Clust-ER Innovation stage and clips of these can be seen on our YouTube channel. We had three iPhones providing different views of the stage with one taking in an audio feed from the stage PA. Two were fixed on monopods offering static shots and the third on a tripod to provide clos-ups of the speakers. We also had a chance to test the graphics updates which worked well and add great new features to the studio.
